If you ask Matt… We met at a toga party at Mecaleca Pi fraternity in 2001. It was the beginning of senior year and everything was awesome. I had just gotten out of a bad relationship with a girl who used sex as a weapon. Anyway, I was in the middle of the biggest beer pong battle campus had ever seen. Sure, I was the reigning champion, but my partner was a freshman. Anything could happen. And it did. Basically, it came down to a six-cup rebuttal shot by me and that sent us into overtime. My freshman noob scored with a lucky bounce and, against the odds, we won the title. I think it was right when the guys were carrying me on their shoulders that Stacey walked in. She was the prettiest girl in the room (the Deltas left early for some lame reason). I’ll never forget it. I walked over to her and said, “Hey.” She said, “Hey, you don’t look so good.” And she was right. I spent most of the night puking in her dorm room, but the next day we had pancakes for dinner and I knew I was in love.
If you ask Stacey… We met at a party in college. It was pretty wild. Lots of drinking, skanky Delta sluts everywhere. Not my usual scene. Matt was pretty drunk by the time I got there. I was waiting for the bathroom when Matt tried to cut in front of me. I was pissed at first, but then I could see that he was in rough shape, so I let him go ahead. He was in there for a while. Finally, some of the frat brothers broke the door down and woke him up. They wanted to take him to the emergency room, but Matt’s scared of hospitals, so he freaked out. I lost the coin toss, so I had to take him home and make sure he didn’t choke in his sleep. But, when he woke up the next afternoon, he was so apologetic and sweet. I fell in love. Then he bought me pancakes for dinner and I knew we’d be together forever.
